Calandro’s Advocate Ad Upgrades: Less Price – More ProductGreat Ideas!

Back in September, some of you may have noticed that our approach to advertising in The Advocate changed.  For decades, we’ve been publishing a weekly sales ad.  But, long story short, after discussing this in our ‘Calandro’s Culinary Think Tank’ and meeting with The Advocate Creative Gurus – we decided that a slightly different approach would be better for everyone.  It would offer something new and unique to all of the folks that read The Advocate, in standard print form and online at TheAdvocate.com, and would represent us and our approach to top-notch customer service, excellent recipes and in-store creations, and unique, local, gourmet selections in a much more effective way.  What we came up with is a monthly advertisement that will feature recipes, featured items, wine pairings, special promotions, specialty liquors, etc. – all with the goal of providing inspiration and ideas to our incredible customers about the history of where and how we get the unique groceries we sell as well as how to use, pair, and combine these items with the right mix for what’s going on right then (Football Season, Thanksgiving, Mardi Gras, etc.).

What we came up with is a monthly advertisement that will feature recipes, featured items, wine pairings, special promotions, specialty liquors, etc…

You’ll find it monthly, in the Thursday ‘Eat’ edition of The Advocate’s ‘Eat. Play. Live.’ section, roughly in the middle of the month.  We call it a (quote)”Sponsorship”(unquote) because although we aren’t officially a sponsor, we have a nice, wide ad on the front page of ‘Eat. Play. Live.’ to introduce that section which will usually contain a highly featured product, recipe, or promotion.  But then you can also find lots of product goodies and uses for those goodies inside of that section in a second ad as well.

But now we’ve talked a lot, and shown very little.  Take a look at September 2014 and October 2014’s new ads below to get an idea for our new approach, hopefully get some great ideas, recipes, etc. for the Fall / Halloween season and LSU, Jag, and Saints Tailgating (respectively), and for an awesome promotion we’ll be doing throughout the year that will can get you 5% all of your groceries at the register called the Bite & Booze #Featured5:
