We’re prepping for our yearly mecca…
…to the Baton Rouge River Center to kick off LSU Tiger Tailgating in great style (and great taste) at #ATasteOfTigerTailgating 2014 (Saturday, August 23rd from 5pm – 8pm). We’ve always tried to out-do ourselves every year, and given that 2014 marks our 13th year to participate in this awesome event, you can bet this one’s going to be big. Just to give you an idea, here’s some of the delicious, perfect-for-LSU-tailgating items we’ll have for you to try WHEN (not IF, right?) you come by our table:
Calandro’s Homemade Products
- Italian Chicken Salad – Add Chips or Crackers and voila – perfect tailgating adder…
- Beer and Bacon Cheddar Spread – Hey – what says tailgating better than beer, bacon, and cheese in a Calandro’s homemade spread? You can’t beat this stuff…
- Shrimp Salad – As good as our many different chicken and tuna salads are, sometimes you need a little seafood to mix things up – and this stuff is muy delicioso…
- BBQ Habanero Cheddar Spread – Tailgate #1 – bring the Beer and Bacon Cheddar Spread. Tailgate #2 – ya can’t do the same thing everytime so mix it up and add a little burn with this stuff.
Other Tailgating Foodie Yumminess
- Cheeses – Cheeseheads rejoice, because our selection can’t be beat. Wonderful stuff, and it doesn’t get much easier for your tailgate: Block of Cheese. (Check.) Knife to cut it. (Check.) DONE!
- Cottonwood River Cheddar Cheese – Raw milk aged cheddar with a full, slightly sweet flavor minus the acid bite of most cheddars. Very smooth and very good.
- Dutch Parrano Cheese – Meld the creaminess of a young Dutch Gouda with the nutty, sweet, buttery flavors of aged Parmesan and here’s the result. Awesome.
- Tillamook Medium Cheddar Cheese – Voted World’s Best Medium Cheddar. You gonna argue with that?
- Stonewall Kitchen Roasted Garlic Onion Jam – Maybe not so good for your tailgating breath, but awesome tasting with some cream cheese and well worth any halitosis that may result.
- Captain Rodney Sweet & Spicy Glaze – Another perfect accompaniment to your cream cheese block, but can do oh so much more with baked dishes, casseroles, etc.
- Ruth’s Hummus – Made in Baton Rouge and incredibly flavorful – you gotta come by and try this local favorite and then take it out to Nichsolson Drive with some pitas to blow some LSU folks’ minds.
- Cupcake Allie – If ever a cupcake or cupcake bite could “bleed Purple and Gold”, Allie’s cupcakes are it. Made in Baton Rouge with some LSU love. Look for cupcake bite footballs, purple & gold designs and all sorts of other tailgating centric pastry creations at Tast of Tiger Tailgating and throughout the football season at Calandro’s.
- Cheeses – Cheeseheads rejoice, because our selection can’t be beat. Wonderful stuff, and it doesn’t get much easier for your tailgate: Block of Cheese. (Check.) Knife to cut it. (Check.) DONE!
Tailgating Drinks
- Tippy Cow Rum Cream | Vanilla Soft Serve Liqueur – Closest thing we’ve found to alcoholic vanilla ice cream in a bottle. It’s incredible.
- Sprecher Root Beer – At Calandro’s, we know root beer. I mean – we carry nearly every one that one can find in a bottle. And this stuff is some of the very best we sell. Period.
- Tippy Root Beer Float – Combine the two drinks above (Sprecher Root Beer and Tippy Cow Vanilla) just so and you’ve got a spot-on, wonderful root beer float – with a perfect purple & gold buzzzzzz…
In addition, there’ll be lots of other food, drink, LSU Tiger paraphernalia from a bunch of different vendors around town along with live music by Dylan Scott, Natalie Stovall, The Drive, and even Jamie Lynn Spears. Check out the video at the top for more details…
